Strengthening the cybersecurity workforce to help build a safer world for all.
Global cyberattacks rose by 38% last year, placing critical infrastructure at greater risk, while the world still sees 3.4 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs by 2025. We're helping to build a robust cyber workforce by enabling careers in cybersecurity, regardless of background or experience. We can empower the future cyber workforce by sharing our expertise, expanding career pathways and forming strong industry partnerships to help protect critical infrastructure.
Sharing our expertise to strengthen the cybersecurity workforce
Built and taught by cybersecurity experts at Google, our Google cybersecurity certificate will equip learners with in-demand skills needed for entry-level cybersecurity jobs. This online training programme requires no prior experience and can be completed in under six months. The certificate teaches how to identify and mitigate common risks, threats and vulnerabilities.
Developing capabilities to protect from cyber attacks
Google.org is providing US$15M to The Asia Foundation to bolster cyber capabilities of 300,000 underserved small businesses and NGOs through capacity building and pilot cyber clinics to provide students with real-world opportunities to hone their cyber skills.
Google.org also supports the National Institute of Cyber Security with a US$1M grant to improve the cybersecurity capabilities of underserved organisations.
Transforming the cybersecurity workforce will not happen overnight, but as a national security priority, it is imperative for us all to do our part. Working with the industry and government, we believe that we can create a robust, more inclusive cyber workforce with the expertise to navigate this evolving cyber landscape and build a safer world for all.
