Google Tensor
Google Tensor
Google's powerful processor makes the Pixel 6 (and later) faster, more efficient and more secure.1 And brings even more personalised, helpful experiences to Pixel.
Titan M2 chip
With Google Tensor and the Common Criteria certified Titan M2 security chip, Pixel is built with multiple layers of security to help keep your personal info safe.17 Derived from the same chip that we use to protect Google cloud data centres, the Titan M2 is tested against the international gold standard used for identity, SIM card and bank card security chips. On-device intelligence
Google has been using machine learning (ML) to make our products more helpful. On-device intelligence uses ML models on Pixel to power features like Face Unlock, Now Playing, Live Caption and Smart Reply in Messages. These features keep more of your data on your phone, private to you.
To help protect your privacy, Google also uses ML to keep your data on your device, with technologies like federated learning and Android Private Compute Core. Learn more
Guaranteed and automatic updates
To protect you and your sensitive data, Pixel comes with at least five years of security updates.3 So that your Pixel gets even more secure over time. And since Google apps can be updated through Google Play, your Pixel gets new features and security fixes as soon as they're ready.
All Pixel devices are designed to respect your privacy. Using our advancements in artificial intelligence and Protected Computing, we ensure the privacy and safety of your data by minimizing the amount of data stored, de-identifying it so that the data is not linked to you, and restricting its access altogether. This means Pixel can pack helpful features like Now Playing and Live Translate while upholding the highest standards of Privacy.
Caller ID and spam protection
Some calls from unknown numbers can be scams. That's why Pixel comes with caller ID and spam protection, so that you can see information about callers or businesses not in your contacts and get warnings about potential spam callers.5 Learn more
Verified SMS
Verified SMS for Messages confirms the identity of a business that's texting you – all on your device. It works on a per-message basis. When verified, you'll see the business name, logo and a verification badge in the message.
SMS spam protection
Spam protection for Messages warns of suspected spam and unsafe websites. If you see a suspected spam warning, you can confirm that it's spam. At any time, you can report unwanted messages or block the sender and all future messages.
Now Playing
With Now Playing, Pixel can identify music playing around you and show the song info on your home screen. Now Playing is fast and private. It uses federated analytics, a privacy-preserving technology, to recognise the most popular songs across all Pixel phones, without collecting individual audio data. And your local music database is constantly updated without Google ever knowing what you listen to. Learn more
Gboard
With the Pixel keyboard, you can send messages and texts with your voice, glide typing or gestures. Or use Assistant voice typing on the Pixel 6 or later.6 Toggle between 900+ languages and share GIFs, emojis, stickers and more without switching apps. Gboard uses a machine learning approach called federated learning to help keep what you type private and still improve autocorrect, as well as word and emoji suggestions. What Gboard learns might be sent to Google services, without including what you typed or spoke, where it will be combined with learnings from other users to create better speech and typing models. Learn more
Live Translate
Live Translate helps you to understand and communicate in other languages, whilst Google Tensor makes it faster and more intelligent.8 Chats are translated automatically, securely and privately. Live Translate also interprets face-to-face conversation in real time. Just say, 'Ok Google, be my interpreter.' Learn more
Google Assistant
Google Assistant helps you to get more done using your voice.9 Your Pixel's Google Assistant is designed to wait in standby mode until it detects an activation, like when it hears 'Ok Google'.10 When in standby mode, your Assistant won't send what you are saying to Google or anyone else. By default, Google doesn't retain your Assistant audio recordings in your Google Account. Learn more
Pixel takes proactive steps to protect your data and gives you detailed controls over what you share.
Google Play Protect
Google Play Protect
All the apps in the Google Play Store undergo rigorous security testing before they're approved. Our machine learning system scans up to 125 billion apps every day, continuously working behind the scenes to keep your device, data and apps safe from malware. It scans your apps before, during and after download – regardless of where you're downloading them from. Learn more
Safe Browsing
Google Safe Browsing helps to protect your Pixel from phishing attacks by showing you warnings any time that you attempt to navigate to dangerous sites or download dangerous files. Safe Browsing also notifies admins when their websites are compromised by malicious actors and helps them to diagnose and resolve the problem so that their visitors stay safer.
Safe Browsing is designed to keep you secure whilst protecting your privacy. It stores a list of flagged sites on your device. If you visit a site that's on the list, your browser sends Google a partial copy of the site's URL so that we can take action. Google doesn't know which site you actually visited from the information that you share. Learn more
Anti-phishing
Pixel has built-in anti-phishing protections that notify users of potential threats coming in from phone calls, text messages, emails and links sent through other apps.
Security and privacy, simplified
Now Pixel makes it easier to protect your phone, accounts, and passwords by having all your security and privacy settings in one place. This includes new action cards that notify you of any safety risks and provide easy steps to enhance your privacy and security.
Permissions
Apps are required to get your permission before they can access sensitive data, like your photos or location. Permission requests are contextual, so you won't get them until you need them. In Settings, you can turn permissions off at any time and control your location data. Choose to give specific apps access to your location either in the background or only when using the app, or restrict access. Android automatically resets permissions for apps that you haven't used. In a typical month, Android automatically resets more than three billion permissions affecting more than one billion installed apps.
Google Account settings
Google products and services like YouTube, Search and Google Maps use your data to be more helpful and relevant. But control over how we use this information is an individual choice that belongs to you. We keep you informed about what data we are collecting, how it's used and why. And we've built easy-to-use data controls into your Google Account so that you can choose the privacy settings that are right for you. Learn more
Mic and camera toggles
To provide additional transparency, Pixel's status bar indicates when apps are accessing your camera and mic. At any time, use the privacy toggles to turn your camera and mic off. This disables access for all of your Pixel apps with a single tap.11
The Personal Safety app helps to keep you connected in an emergency.13 Pixel can automatically call for help, share your location or record a video. And you're in control of your personal safety and location settings.

Unlocking Pixel
Unlocking Pixel
Unlocking your Pixel is easy, fast and secure. Face Unlock and Fingerprint Unlock help to ensure that only you have access to your phone (authentication features may vary by device). On the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro, your face and fingerprint data is processed on your phone. It's not accessible in the cloud or by Google.
Find My Device
If you ever misplace your Pixel, Find My Device can help to locate it and make it ring.15 Sign into your Google Account on any browser or use the Find My Device app on any Android device. And if you misplace your Pixel Buds, use Find My Device to see where they are, even if you only lost one of them.16
Find My Device also lets you lock your phone remotely or display a message on the lock screen so that if someone finds it, they know who to contact. If you're convinced that it's lost for good, you can erase all of your data remotely. Learn more
Factory reset protection
Every Pixel comes with factory reset protection for enhanced anti-theft security. This helps to ensure that no one can re-activate your phone without your passcode or Google Account password. It's one of the many ways that we are helping to keep your phone safe and secure. Learn more
