Strengthening the cybersecurity workforce to help build a safer world for all.
Global cyberattacks rose by 38% in 2022, placing critical infrastructure at greater risk, while the world still sees 3.4 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs by 2025. We are committed to doing our part to close the cybersecurity skills gap in Europe by offering cybersecurity skills programs to jobseekers, students, enterprises, and small businesses across Europe.
Sharing our expertise to strengthen the cybersecurity workforce
Built and taught by cybersecurity experts at Google, our Google Cybersecurity Certificate equips learners with in-demand skills needed for entry-level cybersecurity jobs. Through our Cybersecurity Workforce Program and Google.org, we work with third party organizations such as Yes We Tech and SomosF5 to provide greater access to the certificate.
Creating new pathways to practical cybersecurity experience
Google, in collaboration with the European Cyber Conflict Research Incubator CIC (ECCRI CIC), has created the Google.org Cybersecurity Seminars program to support selected universities across Europe to increase access and opportunities for students interested in learning about the key topics in cybersecurity. The $15M program will allow students to gain real-world experience in the field through hands-on learning with local community organizations.
An introduction to security in the cloud
Google Cloud launched the Beginner: Google Cloud Cybersecurity Certificate to provide an introduction to cloud security concepts and hands-on training with the Google Cloud console via interactive lab exercises. This course is intended to prepare learners for entry-level security roles or to serve as a bridge to more advanced skilling programs, including the Google Cloud Professional Cloud Security Engineer Certification, an interactive online training course and exam to help IT professionals up-skill and re-skill for cloud engineering and cloud security roles.
Providing resources to businesses of all sizes
Grow with Google has developed an online training to help teach SME owners the basics of cybersecurity for businesses. The training is provided at no cost and is available across Europe, Middle East and Africa, in 19 languages.
Transforming the cybersecurity workforce will not happen overnight but as a national security priority, it is imperative for us all to do our part. Working with the industry and government, we believe we can create a robust, more inclusive cyber workforce with the expertise to navigate this evolving cyber landscape and build a safer world for all.
